
Sunday night at 6:40 PM, the Buffalo Bills take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game where the winner will advance to the Super Bowl. This will mark the third time that the Bills and Chiefs faced off in the AFC Championship Game, this includes this years game, the 2021 AFC Championship and the previous two times were in the 1994 AFC Championship and the 1966 AFL Championship.
In the 1966 AFL Championship, Buffalo QB Jack faced off against Len Dawson in what would turn out to be a complete blowout where the Buffalo Bills got blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs 31-7. Bills QB Jack Kemp had 12 completions on 27 attempts for 253 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions, while Chiefs QB Len Dawson had 16 completions on 24 attempts for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kansas City went on to face the Green Bay Packers in the first ever Super Bowl and lost 36-10.
In the 1994 AFC Championship Game, Buffalo QB Jim Kelly went head to head against Chiefs QB Joe Montana where Buffalo came out with a win against Kansas City, where Buffalo won 30-13. Bills QB Jim Kelly had 17 completions on 27 attempts and passed for 160 yards with 0 touchdowns. Chiefs QB Joe Montana had 9 completions on 23 attempts and passed for 125 yards with 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Buffalo Bills went on to the Super Bowl to face off against the Dallas Cowboys and lost 13-30.
In the 2021 AFC Championship Game, Buffalo QB Josh Allen will go head to head in a dog fight against Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes. Both Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes had stellar seasons and many except this match-up to come down to the wire. We will all be able to witness this match-up on Sunday Night, 01/24 at 6:40 PM.
